A whole week of sensuality in Buenos Aires: Tango Festival 2011

The city of Buenos Aires, considered the Capital of Tango by excellence, is receiving today August 12th, the best and most renowned Tango dancers from all over the world to compete for the most acclaimed tango dancing prize of 2011.

In the 9th edition of the Tango Festival more than 500 couples will be competing in the tournament. The event is being organized by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires and it is expected that more than 350,000 people will visit the event to enjoy the dances and movements of the couples competing.

The tournament is divided in two categories: "Tango Salón" which will take more into account the practice of tango dancing as an authentic tradition of Buenos Aires, and the "Tango Escenario" which aims to enrich the dance from a concept linked with the choreographic show. We can say that while the former is the "Tango Tradition" the latter is more like the "Tango Show."

During the events of the Festival, the public can also enjoy authentic milongas, tango classes, free tango shows, dance performances and the actual works of the most prestigious tango schools.

The festival presentation will take place in different places in the city. The official schedule, with all the dates and places of performances, will be published on the event webpage.

For all the tourists who are coming to the city this is a great opportunity to see the greatest tango dancers gathered together at the World Capital of Tango: Buenos Aires. A must see event!
