Buenos Aires Tango Festival & World Cup

Buenos aires is breathing tango again and this month, the city is proud to receive real tangueros from all over the world to compete in the world tango championship that is currently happening in Buenos Aires. The Buenos Aires Tango Festival and world coups has, without a doubt, become one of biggest tango events in the whole world and a must-see attraction for those travelers looking for authentic cultural activities during their visiting the city.

Artists, professionals, producers, and tango aficionados gather for this event that in its 2010 edition welcomed more than 350.000 people. This event is sponsored by the city of Buenos Aires and all activities are free of charge.

If you want to visit this event, the highlights of this 2011 edition Tango Buenos Aires are:

1. “Centro de Exposiciones”, located on Avenida Figueroa Alcorta right in front of Recoleta’s main park “Plaza Francia” There, several concerts and Milongas will take place and as on its previous editions, the festival includes free tango lessons to whoever wants to give it a chance, Tango documentaries will be shown, a permanent art gallery and a souvenir fair.

2. Teatro de la Ribera and Centro Cultural 25 de Mayo. A Buenos Aires classic: the Luna Park stadium, is the choice venue for the world cup finals, which will take place on august 29th and 30th.

3. Semifinals for the Ballroom Tango category will be held on August 26th while semifinals for the Stage Tango category will be held on August 27th

4. Finals for the Ballroom Tango category will be held on August 29th while the finals for the Stage Tango category will be held on August 30th
